RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Chorus toured throughout Italy, including a performance at the Vatican in Rome in the Spring of 2006.
The Notre Dame Concert Band performed at Carnegie Hall in March of 2005.
The Notre Dame Band marched in the 2004 New Year's Day Parade in London, England. The band also presented a concert at Westminster Hall.
The Chorus performed at Lincoln Center in New York City in 1994.
The Notre Dame Band performed in Germany in conjunction with the 1972 Olympic Games.
Over the years the Band and Chorus have particpated in festivals in Florida and Toronto, Canada.
The Visiting Artists and Clinicians Program has brought many outstanding performers and conductors to work at ND sinces its inception in 1980. The list of musicians include the Dwight Mitchell-Willie Ruff Duo, Dr. Thomas Duffy (composer and Director of Bands at Yale), Jeffery Holmes (Director of Jazz Studies, UMass-Amherst), Dr. Daniel D'Addio (Director of Bands, CCSU), Marshall Onofrio '68 (Associate Dean, Westminster Choir School), James Ackley (Professor of Trumpet, UConn), Gary Green (Director of Bands, University of Miami, FL), and Ellen Rowe (Conductor, UConn Jazz Ensemble).
Many of the areas most prominent jazz musicians have collaborated with the ND Jazz Ensemble including Sonny Costanzo, Jeff Fuller, Robert Kolb, John Mastroianni, Tom Gibbons, Michael Paone, Steve Davis, and Jim Fryer.
ND commissioned an overture for band, "Celebration," by internationally renowned composer Elliot DelBorgo to commorate the 50th anniversary of Notre Dame High School. The composer conducted the permiere performance by the Notre Dame Alumni Band on January 6, 1996.
