Transportation to ND via Bus

Getting to Notre Dame High School is not as hard as it may seem, as reflected by the fact that our students come from more than 30 cities and towns.  Many students join carpools, and even more use the bus companies that service their home towns, as listed below.

• West Haven: Winkle Bus Co. (free of charge through the city of West Haven)

• Shelton, Derby, Seymour, Ansonia, Oxford, Milford, Woodbridge: Allstar Transportation

Madison, Guilford, North Branford, Branford, East Haven: First Student*

• Wallingford, North Haven, Hamden, Northford, Cheshire: Winkle Bus Co.*

*  The availability of bus transportation is made on a yearly basis depending on the number of interested students from these areas. For information on bus routes, fees and carpools, contact the Admissions Office.

Transportation to ND via Train and UNH Shuttle

Over 50 Notre Dame students are utilizing the new train/shuttle service either one-way or roundtrip. The University of New Haven Shuttle Service (Free to Notre Dame students) is going very smoothly and we are grateful for their partnership with us.

Train schedules reflecting the West Haven stop are available online and the links for both Shoreline East and Metro North are included below. There are also links to the following:

  • Shoreline East and Metro North Mail & Ride for Schools Program CLICK HERE FOR DOWNLOAD               Notre Dame students are eligible for reduced student fares and tickets may be purchased online through the MNR website: www.mta.info/mnr via the Mail & Ride for Schools Program.  The Mail & Ride Student Ticket Application must be completed and returned to the Admissions Office at Notre Dame, so students can be enrolled in this program by a school administrator. [Applications must be received by the 5th of the month to begin the program for the following month.] Once enrolled, parents can manage their son's account. Tickets will be mailed out 10 days prior to the month's end for the next month. [Note: Tickets will be mailed in a white window envelope with a pink insert--don't mistake for "junk mail."]
  • Daily and weekly tickets are available for both train services, but not at a discounted rate.
