| | Parent's Association RSVP Form - Reception for Mr. Hoffman Notre Dame Parents Association Notre Dame High School has an active Parents Association, which undertakes various tasks during the school year, divided into four areas. The executive board of the association is composed of parents and a faculty moderator. Meetings are held four times during the school year. Notifications of the meeting are through the school calendar and regular online updates. At each meeting, open to all parents, business is conducted followed by a speaker or program.
Members of the Notre Dame Parents Association sponsor activities throughout the year. Their only fundraiser, the Grand Knight, is held each spring and raises money that directly benefits your sons' academic and co-curricular programs. The social host committee this past year has staffed refreshments for Open House, Honors Night, and Accepted Students Night. New this year is a Parent Ambassador program that will work with admission efforts. We also publish an online student directory to facilitate student-to-student communication that can be accessed through the Notre Dame High School website. Please consider joining this year as an active member of our Association. Each membership is one per family. |

 | | | The Social Host Committee takes the spirit of Notre Dame hospitality and puts it into action. The committee decorates the café and serves refreshments for Open House in the Fall. Next is Accepted Students Night in January, followed by Junior Recognition Night Reception, in Early February, and Honors Night reception in May. The committee always hosts the most wonderful receptions so that those attending can enjoy the evening. This is why we need parents from all different classes to be part of this effort.

 | Notre Dame Parent Ambassadors represents a new program in which we are formalizing the generous help of current families. Notre Dame has always had the support and hospitality of current parents throughout the Admissions process. At this time, we are adding the Parent Ambassadors as a branch of the Parents Association. Parents have always played and will always play a vital role in the recruitment of future ND Men! As active participants in the day to day activities that occur at ND, parents are the ultimate “representatives” for our school. Specific functions of the Parent Ambassadors include, but are not limited to the following events:
• Assist in helping at community events throughout the year (ie. fairs, carnivals, picnics etc.)
• Assist in marketing Notre Dame through various businesses (ie. being available to discuss our school at local businesses)
• Host pre-open house socials
• Host pre-registration socials
• Act as a liaison between Notre Dame and churches and other religious communities
• Volunteer to answer questions at various admissions events (ie. Open House, Accepted Students Night, and Freshmen Orientation)

| | Parents Association Meeting Speakers Topics have a broad range of teen and parent issues and have included: “Designer Drugs and your teen”, by the Connecticut Task Force on Narcotics, “Internet Safety” presented by the West Haven Police Department, and a panel of college admissions officers speaking on how to plan for college admissions. All of these came about because of parent suggestions. Plans for this year’s meetings will be varied and interesting.
We arrange for and attract speakers that parents want to hear, knowing your time is valuable, and trying to be responsive to your needs. If you would like to assist in the planning of these meetings, or would like to suggest topics for the future, please contact:

| | GraND Knight Event and Raffle The GraND Knight is the only major fund raising event sponsored annually by the Parents Association. This year’s theme is "A Pirate's Knight For Me", and takes place on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at Anthony’s Ocean View and features live, silent, and “tea cup” auctions, along with fabulous food and drinks, and entertainment by our student musicians. The evening culminates with the GraND Knight Raffle drawing that features five outstanding prizes, including a GraND Prize that is valued at $10,000!
As a prelude to the GraND Knight, there is also an online auction that runs for one week before the festivities at Anthony’s. This includes a great selection of items for bidding by parents, alumni, and others in the greater ND community.
The GraND Knight is a huge success every year due to the organization and hard work of our parent volunteers (a.k.a. GraND Knight Committee!) In addition, we count on the support of our families to donate auction items and sell raffle tickets. The proceeds from this event directly benefit all students by supporting their academic and co-curricular programs.
