The goal of the athletic department is to conduct a wholesome and worthwhile program that is consistent with and contributes to the basic philosophy of Notre Dame High School. As an integral part of the total education process, Notre Dame athletics make a significant contribution to the personal growth and development of the participants. To this end, we strive to increase the students' knowledge, contribute to their maturity, teach moral and ethical values and motivate them in pursuit of excellence so we can help produce individuals who realize their self-worth and reach their full potential.

We take great pride in the success of our athletic program. More than 50% of our student body participates in the 12 sports offered: baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis and track (indoor/outdoor). The Notre Dame Green Knights participate in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and competes in the Southern Connecticut Conference, one of the most competitive leagues in the state.

For over 45 years, Notre Dame athletics has produced outstanding student athletes who have gone on to compete at the college level. The names of our All-State and All-League members are proudly displayed on banners in the Notre Dame Gymnasium along side our many League and State Championship banners. Our success is marked by the efforts of many athletes who have worked extremely hard to reach their full potential both academically and athletically.

Our athletes are in top physical condition, exemplify leadership and sportsmanship, and are coached by an experienced and knowledgeable staff. We are proud of our athletic accomplishments. We are confident that the rich tradition of Notre Dame athletics will continue to make new strides with the young men of tomorrow who will wear the "green and gold" with class and dignity.
