 | When established in 1983, the sole purpose of this endowed fund was to secure the future of the school through an endowment that would provide financial assistance to deserving students. Over the years, the endowment’s principal has grown both through cautious investing and through additional gifts to enhance it.
In 1995, the Loyalty and Endowment Fund stood at nearly $500,000, and approximately 5 percent of its earnings funded student scholarships. Today, its worth has risen to $4.7 million, thereby creating the opportunity to assist greater numbers of students.
In 2006, the Loyalty and Endowment Fund began accepting gifts for general education purposes as well.

Named Scholarships and Awards Can there be a more touching way to honor the life and/or memory of a beloved family member or friend than by establishing an endowed scholarship or award in their (or one’s own) name? Endowed scholarships and awards strengthen a school by attracting and retaining the most promising students without regard for their ability to pay the full tuition.
Economic pressures also affect the ability of many qualified students to attend Notre Dame High School. In terms of impact, endowed scholarships and awards can open doors to many deserving students, giving them the opportunity to attend Notre Dame and benefit from an excellent education in the Holy Cross tradition.
For these reasons, Notre Dame encourages donors to establish endowed scholarships and awards. The beauty of such gifts is that they grow over time and serve their intended purpose in perpetuity. At Notre Dame, naming opportunities are available at the following levels: • Fully Endowed Scholarship: $200,000 or more • Half Endowed Scholarship: $100,000 • Named Scholarship: $25,000 • Named Award: $10,000
All named scholarships and awards may be established with an outright gift or a pledge over a specific period of time. Gifts at these levels receive permanent recognition on a plaque that hangs in the main hallway of the school.
