“Our students have seen more rapid change in their lifetime than the world has seen since creation. They have seen a president shot, men walk on the moon, nations literally destroyed by war, and it is amazing that their human circuits have not burned up.”

50th Reunion — Class of 1971

SAVE THE DATES: May 21-23, 2021 for a fun and memorable 50th Reunion!

May 18, 2019

Dear Classmates:

Collage for 71
We know! We don’t believe it either!  It’s been almost 50 years since we shared each other’s company at Notre Dame.  Our 50th is a big milestone.  Let’s take that opportunity to share some laughs together, reminisce, and catch up!   If these last 48 years are any measure, 2021 will be just around the corner.

The reunion committee has held its first meeting in mid-March with Brother George Schmitz leading us through an agenda and additional materials compiled by Kathy Wielk, ND’s VP for Community Relations and Leadership Giving. During our hour together, we discussed committee structure, the dates, possible weekend events, the completeness of our class list, forming a Class Gift subcommittee, etc.

Our reunion weekend will be May 21-23, 2021.  While planning is only in its preliminary stages, we want to make the most out of our weekend together.  Activities will be coordinated throughout the weekend.  Possibilities include a Friday night informal dinner together.  Saturday we are considering a golf outing and an evening formal dinner with spouses and /or guests.  The culmination of the weekend’s activities will be our being guests of honor at the Class of 2021’s Commencement Ceremony followed by brunch and a memorial Mass for our deceased classmates.

In preparation for our 50th, we are scheduling quarterly gatherings to bring our classmates together and share stories and memories of our high school years “on the hill!” The committee will meet one half hour before each gathering to continue the planning. We hope you can join us at some of the Class of ’71 events and if you have some ideas for the reunion you’d like to share with us, please feel free to contact any of the reunion committee members.  You and your ideas are welcome!  Contact information for all of the committee members is included herewith.  We will also include other ways you can collaborate with us.

We look forward to seeing you again during our 50th Reunion Weekend.  Please remember to hold these dates in 2021.   Please expect to hear from us at least quarterly as our planning progresses.

Yours in Notre Dame,

The Class of 1971
50th Reunion Committee
