Class of 1972 50th Reunion

Reunion 1972 image

It was nearly 50 years ago when our class was walking the halls of Notre Dame sharing laughs and enjoying each other’s company. We have nearly come full circle to our 50th reunion.

2022 is around the corner and we are looking forward to celebrating and reminiscing with a weekend full of activities.  Our reunion weekend will be the last week of May or first week of June. On Friday night we will have a Stag night, on Saturday we are planning a golf outing and on Saturday evening a formal dinner with spouses and /or guests.  The culmination of the weekend’s activities will be our participation in the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2022 and being honored with golden diplomas.

The reunion committee has held its first meeting and we had the pleasure of hosting Kathy Wielk, VP for Advancement. After sharing stories of our time at Notre Dame and the brotherhood we developed, the committee members felt it appropriate to support current and future Notre Dame Students in their Notre Dame education.  Toward that goal we have decided to create a 50th Reunion Gift from the Class of 1972 and establish a Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of our deceased classmates.  We collectively agree that our Notre Dame experience was a seminal event in our transition from child to adult.

We look forward to sharing memories with you during our reunion weekend and we are hopeful that you will honor your four years at Notre Dame and our deceased classmates by supporting our class gift.  We will be contacting you soon with our vision and we encourage your participation.

Members of the reunion committee and other local alumni will be gathering on a quarterly basis to have lunch and share stories while at the same time discussing ways to enhance the reunion weekend.  If you would like to join us at one of these luncheons, please contact any of the reunion committee members and, in our continuing effort to stay connected, please consider sharing your email and cell phone number with any of us.

Yours in Notre Dame,

The Class of 1972
50th Reunion Committee

If you have questions or would like to get involved, please contact one of the committee members or Kathy Wielk, Vice President for Community Relations and Leadership Giving, at or 203.937.3214.

1972 Class Gift—Goal $72,000

In anticipation of our 50th Reunion, the Committee has established the Class of 1972 Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is a lasting tribute to our deceased classmates and will provide much-needed scholarship support for today’s Notre Dame students. Our goal is to raise $72,000 by May 2022!

Gifts of all sizes are welcome. Pledges of $1000 or more may be paid over four years.  We hope that classmates will make multi-year commitments to the fund so that in 2023 students will begin to receive significant support from the Class of 1972 Memorial Scholarship.

We look forward to seeing you for this milestone event!
