Welcome to Notre Dame!

As the entire Notre Dame of West Haven community celebrates our 70th anniversary this year, we couldn't be more proud of what we have achieved together. We are a community of educators and learners, alumni, parents, and friends who share a strong sense of belonging and loyalty to Notre Dame High School. We are guided by the Holy Cross mission of nurturing both the intellectual growth and exemplary character in Notre Dame men.

Notre Dame is a place where we value curiosity, the adventurous spirit, and the innovative mind. These priorities are evident in our rich curriculum, our arts and theater programs, and our club and athletic offerings. Our tri-semester schedule allows students to explore more subjects and take advantage of a wider variety of elective courses during the year. Our 1:1 chromebook program, Promethean Boards, and Future Innovation Technology Lab transform the traditional ways of learning, leveraging technology to develop 21st century skills of research and collaborative goal setting. Our students stretch their thinking and abilities in experiential classrooms of travel, internships, and community service.

At Notre Dame, we value collaboration and commitment to one another. Teamwork and an appreciation for individual strengths and learning styles is key to our success. Over the past year we have achieved these milestones:

  • Our Notre Dame robotics team won three local competitions, finished second at regionals, and qualified for the 2016 VEX Worlds Robotics Competition in Louisville, Kentucky during the 2015-16 academic year because of a strong team and dedication to their craft.

  • Our baseball team won the 2016 Class L state championship because of the incredible team synergy and the essential element of "playing for each other". Seeing that dogpile after the last out in the championship game and pure joy on their faces was priceless.

  • Our Beauty and the Beast Drama Club production played to three sold-out shows and was the first musical in 25 years to be performed at Notre Dame. It was nominated for 12 Halo awards because of the joy, talent, and pride that everyone brought to the stage.
Notre Dame is a community of caring and extremely dedicated faculty whose priority is to know and build a personal relationship with every student and respond to their individual learning styles. Our students have a chance to get a head-start on their college experience by taking our Honors Program, Advanced Placement, or UConn Early College Experience classes where college credits can be gained with academic achievement. Meanwhile, our Skills Center provides all our students the best chance to thrive academically at Notre Dame to prepare themselves for success at the collegiate level and beyond.

As you browse through the various pages of our website, you will discover more on the distinctive Notre Dame and Holy Cross experience. If you are already member of our community, I hope the website will help you stay connected and current with recent developments at the school. If you are new to our community or thinking about visiting our school, and joining the class of 2021, we look forward to having you visit our campus and experience the Notre Dame advantage.
