Big Y Annual Scholarship Program – In tribute to both its employees and customers, Big Y offers a series of scholarships that honor the late Big Y founders/brothers, Paul H. and Gerald E. D’Amour; also a scholarship series recognizing area Law Enforcement and Firefighters contributions, and a category acknowledging Military Service members and their families. Big Y offers over 300 scholarships each year totaling more than $250,000. All recognize academic merit and achievement, and are awarded to the most academically outstanding students in the Big Y market area. To be eligible, a student’s permanent residence or school must be located within Connecticut or Massachusetts. All Big Y employees are eligible regardless of their residence. Connex Credit Union 2019 College Scholarships – Connex Credit Union is offering three scholarships to deserving Connex Credit Union members: The $2,000 Nicolas G. Hackett Memorial Scholarship; The $2,000 John R. Edwards Community Involvement Scholarship (for students demonstrating a commitment to community service); and The $2,000 Arthur B. United States Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation Scholarship Program – Each year Connecticut awards two $500 grants to graduating high school seniors in the United States, who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. They must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and sent to the educational institution of their choice. Note: the Connecticut JCI Senate scholarship recipient’s applications are also submitted to the US JCI Senate Foundation for consideration for the $1000 grants. Yale-New Haven Hospital Minority Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship Program – Yale-New Haven Hospital has established a scholarship program to assist minority students who plan to continue their education in Nursing or Allied Health (Registered Nurse, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapist, Medical Technology, X-Ray Technology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine Technology) for the entire upcoming academic year. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America. If selected as a recipient, student will receive a $2,000 award.
