Green Bowl 2019 Dedicated to Dr. John Aversa

Notre Dame High School lost one of its most ardent supporters and loyal fans with the passing of Dr. John Aversa this past summer. An orthopaedic surgeon for 48 years, Dr. Aversa donated countless hours of service to our teams and student-athletes. He volunteered as the team physician for our football and hockey teams and was a constant on the football sideline and in the hockey rink, loving to watch our teams play.

In addition, John and his wife Ellen have been generous benefactors to Notre Dame and had a special place in their hearts for our students in the Shepherds Program. Providing opportunities for student success through scholarship support and mentoring, the Aversas impacted the lives of many ND students over the years.

For their unwavering support of Notre Dame and Dr. Aversa’s devotion to our student-athletes, we are dedicating the 2019 Green Bowl to Dr. John Aversa and his family. There will be an on-field dedication ceremony at 10 am Thanksgiving morning. If you will be attending the Green Bowl game, please consider getting there early for this special tribute.
