Seventeeth Annual Halo Awards and CAS Arts Awards

Seventeeth Annual Halo Awards and CAS Arts Awards

Congratulations to Notre Dame Drama Club moderator-producer Mrs. Casey LaMonaca, Mrs. Christine Evans, music director, Lisa Menilli, choreographer, and Rosemary O'Brien (wife of Alan Alfanso '81) director of the Club's production of Newsies. The production was awarded Best Contemporary Musical at the 2020 Halo Awards. The 17th Annual Halo Awards were presented at a virtual event on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Annually, the Notre Dame Drama Club enters the Halo Awards, competing with 26 Connecticut schools for outstanding achievement in high school theater production. Seven Angels Theater, Waterbury, CT, sponsors the awards.

Notre Dame had 16 nominations for its December drama production The Outsiders and its March musical Newsies. Three additional Notre Dame students were nominated for their performances in productions at Sacred Heart Academy and Lauralton Hall in the fall.

The Connecticut Association of Schools annually honors two outstanding seniors from each of its member schools who excel in the performing or studio/visual arts. Scholarship and Leadership are supporting criteria for the CAS awards.

Meet Notre Dame's top honorees for Halos Awards and Connecticut Association of Schools Arts Awards.

We are very proud of our 2020 award winners and Notre Dame's long-term commitment to the arts. The Band and the Glee Club premiered in 1947, one year after the school opened. The first dramatic production, Jean Kerr's The Big Help, took the stage in 1949.
