- Request School Transcripts
Transfer applicants need to submit transcripts that are reflective of all work completed in high school and current grades in progress.
Grade 8 applicants should submit report cards for grades 6, 7 and 8. (Current grades in progress will be acceptable if the actual grade 8 report card is not ready.)
Report cards or transcripts are required to be submitted and allow the committee to learn more about your academic history.
- Letters of Recommendation
Two letters of recommendation are required as part of the admissions process. The letters are to be completed by a principal/guidance counselor and a teacher (Math or English). The recommendations can be completed online by sending an online request to your principal/counselor and teacher of choice.
Notre Dame of West Haven has educated young men in the Holy Cross Tradition for more than 70 years. We are a leader in teaching and learning pedagogies for young men and are particularly skilled at identifying our students' strengths and supporting their emerging competencies.
Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT)
The SSAT is just one benchmark indicator to guide our review of applications for admission, but it is not the deciding factor. We look to develop the whole person during their four-year high school experience, and that is exactly the way we aim to access our incoming applicants. We know that standardized test scores do not always reflect a student’s true potential in the classroom and our objective is for applicants to know that we are taking many factors into consideration for admission.
Ultimately we will make an admissions decision based on a prospective student’s leadership skills, community involvement, recommendations, prior standardized testing, and challenging coursework completed prior to arrival to Notre Dame.
Register for the SSAT
Prospective students register for the SSAT through the ND Admissions Account. There are multiple Standard test dates and testing centers from which to choose. Additionally, Notre Dame will offer several testing dates on our campus October 20, November 10, November 13, and December 4. These are considered Flex testing dates that are only available by registering through your ND Admissions Account.
Character Skills Snapshot
The application process should not be intimidating, and we want to remove the doubts and fears that are sometimes associated with applying to a private high school. We are interested in getting to know who YOU are! And, another great opportunity to tell us more about who you are is to complete the Character Skills Assessment. This is a new online tool which will provide ND with a comprehensive view of your son without the stress of a formal exam. There are no wrong answers and this will help us better understand your son, and his abilities, and how we can help bring him to his highest potential.
“During Orientation, ND said ‘you give us your boys and we will return them as gentlemen.’ That is so true of our experience, and we are so proud of the way he has grown, thank you ND!”
