The Arts at ND

Studies show that in an all-male educational setting, young men are more likely to engage in a creative outlet – be it Music, Theater, or Visual Arts.

Mission Statement

The Notre Dame Fine Arts Department provides students with opportunities to develop their individual artistic talents and skills within a collaborative working environment that fosters respect and encourages students to work to their highest potential. We strive to instill a lifelong appreciation for the Arts.

At Notre Dame, the arts are a vital part of the curriculum all four years. Credit-bearing course options include Symbolism in Art, Art I,  Drawing and Painting, Creative Fun with Technology, Sculpture, and Portfolio Preparation, Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Concert Chorus, Concert Band, Piano Lab and more.

In the last 30 years, Notre Dame students have captured All-State Musician honors 36 times for their outstanding performances. The range of instruments represented by N.D. All-State musicians is extraordinary: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, tuba, percussion, jazz saxophone, and violin. Included in this distinguished group are ten alumni of our well-regarded chorus.
