Notre Dame Knight for a Day

Student Shadow Program

Our Knight for a Day program invites prospective students to experience life at Notre Dame High School through a full morning on campus alongside our Student Ambassadors. From attending classes and participating in Minds & Hearts Advisory to enjoying a complimentary lunch and touring campus, students gain an authentic “day in the life” experience as a Green Knight.

Visit hours: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Knight for a Day visits begin September 22 and are offered on select Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the fall. Please request a date early while space is available!

What to Expect

During your visit, students will:

  • Attend academic classes with a current student host
  • Participate in our Minds & Hearts Advisory program
  • Tour campus and explore student life
  • Enjoy a complimentary lunch in our cafeteria
  • Experience the Notre Dame community firsthand

If a student does not have a preferred host, we will pair them with a Student Ambassador. Students may also request a specific host student (such as a sibling or friend), and we will do our best to accommodate. While we strive to honor preferences, host requests cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to submit an application before a shadow visit?

It is not required to have a completed application in order to have a shadow visit. However, we encourage students to create their Notre Dame Admission Portal prior to their visit so we can personalize the experience. Submitting an application in advance is strongly encouraged.

Can I request a host student?

Yes. If you know a current Notre Dame student, please indicate their name on your registration form, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

What if I need to change my date?

Please email [email protected]. We will do our best to reschedule, but dates fill quickly so we encourage you to email us right away and then submit your registration request for a new date that is available.

Will my school absence be excused?

Yes. We will provide an official letter confirming your campus visit for school attendance purposes. If your child’s school needs additional confirmation, please let us know and we will be happy to provide it!

Can I choose my classes?

To ensure an authentic experience, students follow their host student’s schedule. We are unable to accommodate specific class or subject requests. To learn more about a specific academic department, check out the Discovery Days or join us at Fall Open House.

What if my preferred date is not available?

We offer visits based on the school calendar and availability. If your preferred date is unavailable, we invite you to attend one of our Information Sessions, Open House events, or Discovery Days to experience Notre Dame in a different way. Shadow visits will end on December 2, 2026 and resume in the new year.
