John DeCaprio
Congratulations to John DeCaprio, a 2026 Notre Dame High School Hall of Fame inductee whose impact on the Knights extends far beyond the football field.
For four decades, John has taught, coached, mentored, and inspired generations of Notre Dame student-athletes. He coached on all four of Notre Dame’s state championship football teams (1991, 2001, 2009, and 2022), serving as head coach for the 2001 championship season. Along the way, he earned Coach of the Year honors from the National Football Foundation, New Haven Register, and Connecticut Post, as well as the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
A 2011 Knight of Honor and 2026 Jim Guercia Assistant Coach of the Year, John’s Notre Dame legacy is defined not just by wins and championships, but by the countless young people he has helped shape.
And perhaps fittingly, his Notre Dame legacy continues through his family: sons Michael ('09) and Matthew ('11) are both graduates of the school.
