Timothy Shea ’82
A West Haven native and All-State baseball standout at Notre Dame, Timothy Shea went on to build one of the most accomplished coaching careers in Southern Connecticut State University history. A former Owl captain and team MVP, Shea returned to his alma mater as head baseball coach in 2002 and has compiled over 600 career victories, becoming the winningest coach in program history.
Under his leadership, Southern has reached seven NCAA Tournaments, two NCAA Division II College World Series, captured nine 30-win seasons, and produced more than 130 All-Conference players, 35 All-Region selections, and seven All-Americans. A three-time Northeast-10 Coach of the Year and three-time Northeast Regional Coach of the Year, Shea has also led AAU teams to back-to-back National Championships.
In addition to his coaching success, Shea served as a special education teacher and spent 14 years teaching in the Milford school system. His decades of leadership, mentorship, and commitment to student-athletes have left a lasting impact on Notre Dame, Southern Connecticut State, and the game of baseball.
