Jack F. Callahan Jr. ’76
Jack F. Callahan Jr. serves as Yale University's inaugural Senior Vice President for Operations and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing approximately $900 million in annual expenses and $600 million in capital spending. Since 2016, he has transformed Yale's operations around three pillars: resourcing the mission, building an effective operating model, and creating a workplace of choice.
A Yale alumnus (B.A. cum laude, 1980) and Dartmouth Tuck Scholar (M.B.A. with distinction, 1986), Jack built an exceptional corporate career spanning McKinsey & Company, General Electric, and PepsiCo before serving as Executive Vice President and CFO of S&P Global (2010-2016). At S&P Global, he led a remarkable transformation, divesting over $4 billion in assets and more than tripling the stock price. Treasury & Risk named him one of the "100 Most Influential People in Finance" in 2012.
His commitment to educational excellence extends beyond Yale through his passionate dedication to Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Connecticut. As a devoted member of the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee, Jack brings his extensive financial expertise and strategic vision to support the school's mission and growth. His philanthropic leadership exemplifies his deep belief in Catholic education and dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders in his local community.
His governance experience includes board service with MetroPCS, Crisil, Dallas Theater Center, Yale Press, and currently the Yale New Haven Health System. Through his exceptional leadership in higher education and corporate finance, combined with his philanthropic dedication to Notre Dame High School, Jack embodies the qualities deserving of the Knight of Honor Award.
