GREEN KNIGHTS ATHLETICS: A SEASON OF MILESTONES

It has been a landmark season for Notre Dame High School athletics — one that celebrates both a dynastic championship run and the exciting growth of our Green Knights athletic family as our coeducational journey continues to unfold.

Five in a Row: Boys Basketball Claims Another SCC Crown
The Notre Dame boys basketball team added another chapter to one of Connecticut high school basketball's most dominant dynasties. The Green Knights defeated Fairfield Prep 73-51 at Quinnipiac University's M&T Bank Arena in Hamden on March 2nd to claim their fifth-straight Southern Connecticut Conference championship.
Arkansas-bound senior Abdou Touré led the way with 28 points, five rebounds, and three blocks, earning Most Outstanding Player honors for the third consecutive year. Jon Jones contributed 12 points, while Kadrian Reeves and Eli Ssenyange each added nine points apiece.

The championship game drew a sellout crowd of 3,214 — surpassing last year's attendance of 3,000 — and Notre Dame sealed the win with a dominant 21-7 closing run. The Green Knights finished the season at 20-3, ranked No. 1 in the GametimeCT Top 10 poll.
The numbers behind this run are staggering: Notre Dame has gone 91-1 against SCC competition since the 2021-22 season began. For alumni who wore the green and white, this program's standard of excellence is a source of immense pride — and a fitting tribute to everyone who helped build this tradition over decades.
Growing Green: Girls Athletics Expands on All Fronts

The championship on the court was matched by equally exciting news off it. This spring marks the launch of our Girls Varsity Softball cooperative program with Stratford High School, giving Notre Dame student-athletes their first opportunity to compete on the diamond. Notre Dame joined forces with Stratford for a spring schedule, and we are grateful to our partners at Stratford for welcoming our players into their program as we build toward a fully independent team.
Looking ahead to next school year, the momentum only builds. Girls Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer have all received full approval for independent varsity status — a milestone that reflects the tremendous response to coeducation from our student body, families, and community. What began with inaugural rosters and tremendous heart this year will take the field and the court next fall as full-fledged varsity programs, competing in the SCC alongside some of the finest programs in Connecticut.
A Community Growing Together

Notre Dame's athletic story this year is one of continuity and growth — a legendary program extending its dynasty while new traditions are born. Whether you cheered in the stands at Quinnipiac or watched our newest Knights take the field for the first time, you are part of something historic.
We invite all alumni to stay connected, come back to campus, and support our student-athletes as we continue to build on the 43 state championships — and the countless memories — that define Notre Dame athletics.
Go Knights!
