Winter, 2025 - A Season To Remember

The Notre Dame Swim Team finished the season as SCC Division 2 Champs with a record of 11-1, and placed 11th in the State Open. The 200 Free Medley Team of Leland Jacheo '25, CJ Wilk '26, Julian Adu '27, and Gavin Giordano '28 placed second in the State Championship. There were a number of individual accomplishments as well, including Adu, Giordano, Jacheo, and Wilk being named Class M All-State Swimmers; Julian Adu being named SCC Swimmer of the Year; and Coach Ken Pierson being named SCC Coach of the Year.

Our Wrestling Team placed fifth in the SCC Finals, with five wrestlers placing in the tournament. New team members Sean Sevigny '28 and Gabe Sardone '28 joined veterans John Paul Malafronte '25, Tyler Ciarleglio '25, and Alphonse Milano '27 in placing in the tournament.

The 4X200 Relay Team of Josiah Carter '25, Tremaine Barr '25, Tristan Robinson '27, and Nicco Sardecchia '25 placed third in the SCC Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Our Hockey Team had another strong season, consistently ranking among the top programs in the state. Although we lost a hard-fought game against New Canaan in the State Semi-Finals, a number of team members racked up impressive individual honors. Four players won All-State honors - Dylan Bankowski '25 and Nick Stevens '25 were named to the SCC All-State First Team, and Jack Aloi '25 and Lukacs Delmonico '25 were named to the SCC All-State Second Team. Bankowski was also named the SCC Division 1 Player of the Year.

Our Green Knights Basketball Team once again capped an impressive season with both an SCC and State Championship for the second year in a row! Not only that, but the team finished the season ranked 65th in the country.

Abdou Toure '26 and Landon Krygier '26 were also named to the All SCC first team, and Quincy Dormevil '26 was named to the All SCC second team. Krygier and Toure were also named to the All-State Team, and for the second year in a row, Toure was named SCC Player of the Year. Toure was also named Connecticut Player of the Year by Gatorade, MaxPrep, and Gametime CT.

In addition to his accomplishments in the League and State, Toure continues to set records at Notre Dame. In February, Toure became Notre Dame High School's all-time leading scorer, surpassing the previous record holder Eric Walania '94 whose record of 1,354 points set in 1994 has held for over 30 years. At the conclusion of this year's season, Notre Dame's top five scorers are:

While our football and soccer seasons ended several months ago, several players from those teams continue to make news. Four of our varsity football players recently signed their letters of intent to continue their playing careers. Michael Paine '25 will be attending Middlebury College; Josiah Carter '25, the University of New Haven; and Brody Hanacek '25, the University of New England. Donovan Darden '25 will pursue a post-graduate year at Putnam Science Academy.

At a recent celebration, Reamon Curis '25 was named CSCA Connecticut Soccer Player of the Year, in addition to being recognized as All-State, All-New England, and All-American.
