April 2022

1980s

Jay Caporale '83 has joined the University of Vermont Foundation as AVP for Corporate and Foundation Relations. 

Paul Cestare '85 was recently appointed Vice President for IT and Digital Systems at the Barnes Group, Inc. Bristol, CT where he has worked since 1993.

Christopher Criscuolo ’85 is the Senior Project Manager at Hartford HealthCare.

Edward Zbylut ’85 received his nursing degree from  Chamberlain School of Nursing, Chicago, and is working at Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL. 

Raymond Riccio ‘86 was appointed Director of Retail Partnerships at Instacart in January 2022. He worked for Google for the past eight years as Head of Emerging Solutions. 

1990s

Al Symonette '91 received an appointment to the planning committee for a Wellness Symposium from the President of the Borough of Queens. Queens was a global epicenter in the early days of the COVID-19 crisis.  The purpose of the symposium is to begin the work of developing a sustainable well-being model as the foundation of the Borough’s path to recovery.

Sean Dargan '93 started a new position as Vice President of Investor Relations at Prudential Financial, New York, NY.

Gaetano Marra '98 recently interviewed former ND Basketball Coach Gary Palladino on his "Expect Better" podcast. Check it out on YouTube here

2000s

Dean Palmer '02 Dean is  currently the Director of Technology for a small non-profit Special Education Services School in Northern Rhode Island. He is also the Resident Lighting Designer at The Company Theater for the Performing Arts in Norwell, MA. Dean is the Senior Design Partner at Blue Edge Design, connecting local theatrical lighting designers with New England Theaters.

David Depukat Ph.D. '05 is the Director of Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs at Yale-New Haven Health.

Nicholas Caiafa '06 launched my new company in March. Invent Shield LLC, is an engineering and intellectual property (IP) law firm specializing in patent and trademark law. What makes Invent Shield unique compared to other IP law firms is that it provides product development and patent protection services. www.inventshieldllc.com

Frank Greco IV '07 recently started a new position at a Partner-Broker at American Merchant Service. 

2010s

Earl McCoy, Jr, '13 participated in the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Greater New Haven Program.  LGNH offers aspiring community leaders and business executives a series of practical, hands-on training courses in professional development. Earl is the Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development, Albertus Magnus College. He works with Patrick Clifford '75, Career and Professional Development Director. 

Edmund Falcigno '15 is an Innovation Analyst at AXA XL, a division of AXA, where he was employed upon completion of his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economic at Fairfield University. He is a graduate of AXA XL's 2 year Graduate Trainee rotational program.

Dylan Penna '15 began a new position as Carbon Originator at Louis Dreyfus Company. Dylan is featured in ND Alumni Enewsletter’s Alumni Profile.

James Blakeslee '16 was recently hired by OneStream Software as a Business Development Representative. 
 
Christopher Lamberti '16 is a Financial Representative with Fidelity Investments, Providence, RI. 

Andrew Tammaro '16 was elected chairman of the Hamden Republican Town Committee. He is the youngest person to hold the position.

William Aleman '17 has a new position at TEKsystems, Hartford. He started at TEK as an IT Risk and Security Recruiter in 2021 when he graduated from UConn. In March, he was promoted to Risk and Security Account Manager.

Liam Connell '17 started a new position as Analyst, US NBFI (Non-Bank Financial Institutions) and Fund Finance at CIBC Capital Markets. He graduated from the University of Miami in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a co-major in Geospatial Analytics. 

Jerrell Dorsey '17 started a new position as Market Research SDR II at Qualtrics, a software development firm. 

Antonio Ferro '17 started a new position as a realtor at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. 

Justin Keish '17 will finish his MBA studies at UConn School of Business next month.  During his final semester he is working as an Internal Audit Intern at Atlas Air. 

Mark Bissell '18 has accepted a full-time position with American Eagle Outfitters. He will join the Men’s Team as a Design Teammate when he graduates from Marist College next month. Mark will receive a BFA in Fashion and Apparel Design. He is also the recipient of the first Marty Staff Scholarship from the Fashion Scholarship Fund. 

Nicholas D’Angelo '18 joined a selected team of University of Rhode Island Finance students actively managing a portfolio of roughly $800,000. The students  conduct equity research using fundamental and technical analysis, including the use of Piotroski models, free cash flow to equity models, and porter analysis. The group is specifically researching and analyzing the Technology and Communication sectors.

Zach Dumas '18 began work as an Opportunity Development Representative at Equinix, an Internet publishing company. He studied Marketing with a minor in Computer Technology and Applications at the University of Alabama.

Michael Robertson '18 will graduate in May from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management.  He has accepted a Field Operation Internship with Consigli Construction. Mike is accredited as a LEED® Green Associate™ by the U.S. Green Building Council. He hopes to continue to grow in his knowledge of green building and sustainability and is committed to incorporating green thinking into his future career. 

Robert Damjanovich '19 recently started a spring internship at Henkle, Inc.  Henkel operates worldwide with leading innovations, brands and technologies in three business areas: Adhesive Technologies, Beauty Care and Laundry & Home Care. Robert’s focus will be on State and Local tax matters. 

We were happy to receive this wedding photo of Mike Panza '12 celebrating his marriage to Lauren Cranston with his ND Brothers in November.  Mike and Lauren met during their college years at Assumption College, Worcester, MA.

 

January 2022

1950s

Dennis Rusconi '57 was inducted into the Notre Dame Knights of Honor in November. He is the Chairman of the Saint Timothy Church Finance Council and the Chairman of the Finance Council of Holy Family Retreat Center. Both are located in West Hartford. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Saint Francis Hospital Foundation.

1960s

Walter Kummer '67 is a behavioral psychologist (MA in Counseling Psychology, 1975).
He worked with the developmentally disabled as well as the chronically mentally ill for 34 years before retiring.  His two sons are ND alumni, Joseph '94 and Walter '99.

1970s

Richard Franco '70 is a USAF veteran.  He trained as an Air Traffic Control Radar technician and was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant after attending USAF Officer Candidate School. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Most of his career in the engineering field was in Georgia.  He retired in 2013. 

Mark Gibney '70 is the Belk Distinguished Professor at University of North Carolina, Ashville. He recently received his third Fulbright Award as Distinguished Chair in Law at the University of Trento (Italy) starting February 2022. Previous Fulbright Awards were in Norway (1989) and Chile (2003). He has two recent publications: International Law: Our Common Future, which was published in 2020, and The Routledge Handbook on Extraterritorial Obligations published in December 2021.  

Edmund Macarelli '70 completed his undergraduate and postgraduate education at Southern Connecticut (History Education and Urban Studies). He moved to Boston where he worked for various state agencies before starting a 30-year career in financial services technology. As a Managing Director with Brown Brothers Harriman, he worked extensively with clients and business partners in Europe and Asia. Semi-retired in 2013, he now has a small consulting practice. He and his wife Karen moved their primary residence to Orleans, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. 

Rick Belden '72 retired in 2021 and is currently working as a consultant.  His career in finance included financial management in several high tech manufacturing and software development companies as well as in several Connecticut municipalities. 

John Brillante '72, after a short stint teaching Mathematics at West Haven High School, joined a small healthcare consulting company. The remainder of his professional career was in the healthcare field. He retired in 2020 but kept busy in the Connecticut hockey scene where he got his start in 1972.  Since October 2021 he has been the official scorer for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. 

James Compas '72 worked for 38 years in the nuclear energy field including construction and startup of new nuclear plants. His work included seven years in South Korea with his family. During the last 18 years of his career, he managed the company's efforts in supporting the operation, fuel supply, and maintenance of power plants in Arizona and Southern California. Jim continues to run, and now speed walk, marathons, and half-marathons. 

George Hunihan '72 had a quarter century career on Wall Street and ten years in real estate and consulting. George continues to swim as he did at ND.  He is an open water enthusiast having undertaken the English Channel, Alcatraz, and the Manhattan Circle.  He is vice-captain of the Woodruff YMCA. He and his wife Suzanne are licensed foster parents.  George returned to school and was recently awarded an MSW from Southern Connecticut State University. 

Gary Staniewicz '72 is retired and busy doing renovations and major landscaping projects in his 100-year-old beach bungalow on the West Haven shoreline. During the Pandemic, he and his wife Nancy have foregone big vacations for visits to interesting places in CT. They spend time with our sons Mike and Matt ‘11 and Matt’s fiancée Jess.

Paul DeRose '73 recently retired after 38 years working in Connecticut off-track wagering for various companies. He wrote a horse racing handicapping sheet three times a week. He now enjoys spending time doting on four grandchildren, sharpening his golf skills, and watching sports on TV. 

Richard Bowden, Ph.D. '74 is in his 32nd year as a Professor of Environmental Science and Sustainability at Allegheny College, PA. where he teaches a variety of courses in sustainability and natural resources. He also conducts ecological research on topics related to forest soils, climate change, acid rain, and natural resources, working at research locations locally, nationally, and internationally. When not in the classroom or field, he enjoys lots of outdoor activities, including kayaking, hunting, biking, and XC skiing.

Kevin Lawlor '75 recently accepted the position of Executive Director of The Seton Collaborative of the Diocese of Bridgeport. The Seton Collaborative is focused on strengthening the Catholic school system of the diocese by examining the business side of managing schools and assessing ways to drive down costs. 

1980s

John Gibbons '81 is Principal at Weston Middle School, Weston, MA. He was recently chosen as one of eight national school leaders to be a recipient of the 2021 Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership.

Greg Antollino '82 continues to work on the Zarda v. Altitude Express case that he took to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and which eventually was decided successfully by the United States Supreme Court. He is focused on a sanctions motion against Altitude Express for not paying costs awarded by the U.S. Supreme Court and Second Circuit Court of Appeals. A podcast explaining the journey to the Supreme Court is available at Trial Lawyer College. Greg’s work on other cases has been noted in Mother Jones and NPR, and at Law360.com.

Alan Grazioso ’87 is the Multimedia Producer for Harvard Business School and a consultant on the development of innovative educational multimedia.

Paul Zalonski ’87 was invested in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem in October 2021. The mission of the EOHSJ is to have special concern for the Holy Places in Jerusalem, defense of the Catholic Faith, support the works of charity of the various Patriarchates in the Holy Land, and to support the education of youth of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

Matt Kennedy ‘88 is a licensed environmental professional and the Senior Project Manager at  Atlas Technical Consultants. His degree is in Geology and Geophysics from UConn. 

1990s

Jack Ferriaolo '90, one of the 2021 Notre Dame Knights of Honor inductees, was recently pleased to hear that two of his Disney Amphibia film productions are nominees for the 49th annual Annie Awards. Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto scored a leading ten and nine nominations, respectively. Jack is Co-producer/story editor on Disney's Amphibia. An Annie Award is animation's highest honor.

2000s

Kyle Klinkhammer ’01 is ranked as a Lieutenant Commander (O-4) in the United States Navy. He joined the Navy in 2009.  He began a two-year tour of duty in Newport, RI in December. Prior to that, he was posted to Yokosuka, Japan as Reactor Electrical Assistant on the USS Ronald Reagan in charge of all of the reactor controls and safety equipment as well as the electrical generators and distribution system.
 
David Santore '03 is a solutions architect with Amazon Web Services working in the Washington, DC area. 
 
Mike Romblad '06 is a Tax Audit Supervisor for the Department of Revenue of the State of Florida.

Jack Jung (Sae-Byok Kim) '07 is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Davidson College, Cambridge, MA. Jack is a member of a group of translators that recently won a Modern Language Association prize for translation. His group was awarded the Aldo and Jeanne Scaglone prize for the translation of the Selected Works of Yi Sang, a Korean Poet.  
 
Michael Montefusco '08 is a Physical Therapist Assistant with Connecticut Orthopaedics.

Chad Demmling '09 is a maxillofacial surgery resident at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He completed his medical degree at UAB and dental degree at the University of Maryland. 

2010s

Brandon Gomez '10 was recently named a 2021 Rising Star by Cynopsis. Cynopsis delivers industry news essential for executives in the digital, television, sports TV, agency and media businesses.  The Rising Star Awards honors stand-out performers, innovators and emerging leaders in the media industry, 35-years and younger who have the passion, talent and creativity to take the industry to new heights.

David Pelaggi '12  is the Band and Orchestra Director at Jonathan Law High School, Milford. He is currently finishing his Master of Music Ed Degree at Texas Tech University. He was married in July and he and his wife Louise purchased a home in Meriden. 

Greg Zullo '13 is the Director of Rentals and Events at Yale University. He graduated from Southern Connecticut with a degree in Sports Entertainment Management. 

Alec Albright '15 is currently an adjunct professor in the Aviation Science Department at Saint Louis University and simultaneously pursuing his law degree.  His career goal is to be an aviation attorney.

First Lieutenant Brendan Hayes '15 and Sarah Alitz were married in November at Christ the King Chapel, King’s College, Wilkes Barre, PA.  Brendan and Sarah are 2019 graduates of King’s College. 

James Campbell '16 graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2020 with a degree in Accounting; he continues at SHU pursuing his Master’s Degree in Accounting.  In December, he accepted a position as an Experienced Associate at Grant Thornton, LLP, in Hartford. 

Nick DeGiacomo '16 is a certified PE and Health teacher at the Sound School in New Haven. Nick is currently undergoing training for his Aquaculture endorsement. 

Dan Landino '16 has joined Newport's award-winning professional improv troupe, The Bit Players, as a repertory member. Dan graduated from Salve Regina University in 2020 with a degree in Psychology and Theater Arts.  He is currently studying at Salve for his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. 

Andrew Tammaro '16 is Press Secretary for the Connecticut House Republicans in the General Assembly. He graduated from Stonehill College in 2020 with a BA in Political Science. He was recently mentioned in the Stonehill Alumni Magazine for his participation on the Event Planning Committee for the Stonehill Class of 2020’s return to campus for a delayed graduation celebration. 

Antonio Ferro '17 recently signed on as a realtor with Sunset Creek Realty in Guilford.  He maintains his EMT license and serves with American Medical Response in New Haven. 

Nicholas D'Angelo '18 is a Finance major at University of Rhode Island. He recently accepted a full-time opportunity with Merrill Edge as an Investment Specialist Trainee.  He will start in June 2022.  
 
Kevin Millea '19 is studying Business Administration at the University of Louisville. He recently began working at Aflac as an Insurance Sales Agent.

Matt Sager '18 took second place in a speech contest at U of Tampa where he is majoring in International Business and marketing.  The contest was sponsored by the University’s Center for Public Speaking.  Matt’s topic came from his experience of living with a brother on the Autism spectrum.  View his speech here

Charles Sedore '18 graduated from the University of Notre Dame in the spring with a degree in Political Science and Russian.  He is currently employed as a Staff Assistant and Legislative Correspondent in the U.S. Congressional Office of Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio).

Richard Shresta ‘18 will graduate from Fordham University in the spring.  He has accepted an offer to join West Monroe Management Consulting as a mergers and acquisitions consultant.

Matt Callahan '19 ND’s basketball manager continues his tradition at Saint Joseph University, West Hartford. 
 
Neel Agir '19 is currently in UConn's School of Engineering Honors Program, pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering with an Aerospace Concentration and a minor in Computer Science.

2020s

Tyler Miller '20 was recently promoted to Lance Corporal in the United States Marines and is working toward a meritorious promotion to full Corporal. He is currently stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC awaiting his next posting. 

Luis Stephenson '20 is posted to South Korea with the United States Air Force. 

October 2021

The 1950s

A First for Notre Dame High School.  The Classes of 1950 and 1951 celebrated their 70th Reunion on June 4 at Notre Dame. Classmates, spouses, and guests gathered for a celebration of the Eucharist in the Saint Brother André Bessette Chapel followed by a reception and luncheon in the Stanley Jachimowski ‘62 Student Success Center. These classes began their ND careers in the Brothers’ residence on Campbell Avenue in 1946 and moved to the current ND on the hill in October 1948. We look forward to adding ‘Seventieth’ to our annual list of alumni reunions. 

The 1960s

John Crowley ’63 resides in Athens, Georgia where he served for ten years as Dean of the College of Environment + Design at the University of Georgia. After leaving the dean's office, he designed a new Professional Graduate Degree Program in Environmental Planning and Design (MEPD), administered it, and prepared it for accreditation by the American Planning Association.

Jack Warner ’64 and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a three-month 8,000 miles tour around the US to see family and friends. Highlights included a visit with classmate and teammate Norman Cubanski '64 in Seattle. In September, Jack and his cousin Gene Monaco '65 traveled with their wives to Naples, their ancestral home.

The 1970s

Robert Bienkowski '72 retired from the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health after 38 years. He worked in facilities for the seriously mentally ill in many direct care and administrative capacities including mental health worker, evaluation/admissions coordinator, Human Rights Officer, and the offices of Quality Management and Risk Management. In retirement he has more time to enjoy travel, music and theater.

William Boyce '72 after a career in the Forest Products and Distribution Industry, Bill took on a second career as a university professor. While acquiring his Ph.D. he taught for 12 years at Xavier University and is now at Northern Kentucky University where he teaches Management and Marketing in the Master’s program. Bill and Cynthia reside in Pine Hills, KY. 

John Dudeff '72 is the author of ‘The Treacherous Selfie: Be Careful of What You Ask in Prayer’ which was published in June and is available on Amazon. John is donating a portion of the proceeds of book sales to the Class of '72 50th Anniversary Fund. 

Joseph Fusco ’72 and his wife Cynthia are the proud parents of five children and nine grandchildren. Joe’s fourth book of humorous poems/essays ‘Pondering the Pandemic During the Rust Years’ came out in late August and is available on Amazon.

Richard Pacelle '72 resides in Knoxville, Tennessee where he is head of the Political Science Department and professor at the University of Tennessee. He has also taught at Indiana University, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Georgia Southern University. He was recently named Chair of the Law and Politics Organization. 

Brian Phelps ;72 is the owner of New Haven’s Toad’s Place. Brian and Randall Beach, retired New Haven Register reporter, recently published a book entitled The Legendary Toad’s Place: Stories from New Haven’s Famed Music Venue. The book is available on Amazon. A book signing took place at Toad’s Place on October 20.

Robert Sylvestre '72 retired in 2016 from the United Illuminating Company after 27 years. He served as  Manager of Environmental Operations and Safety. Sylvestre continues to be active in the field through his 2016 appointment to the Connecticut Siting Council which he chaired from 2019 to 2021. The Council is responsible for balancing the need for adequate and reliable public utility services at the lowest reasonable cost to consumers with the need to protect the environment and ecology of the state. Sylvestre is still active in the music industry and continues to play percussion, mostly drums, with various groups and individuals in the area. One album was released in the late 1980s.

Greg Dillon '74 is publishing a memoir entitled The Thin Blue Lie - An Honest Cop vs The FBI. The book is scheduled for a February 2022 release and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Greg is a retired FBI agent who has been a mentor in the Shepherd’s program at ND for nine years and has accompanied nine students during that time. He is donating ten percent of the profits of the sales of the book to Shepherds. 

Douglas Tyson '77 has been Region 1 Assistant Superintendent for Fairfax County (Virginia) Public School since 2014. He currently supports 40 schools and principals. Prior to his time with FCPS, Tyson was an award-winning teacher of chemistry and mathematics at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School and subsequently led the Thurgood Marshall Charter School, both in Washington, D.C.

Dan Brenner '79 is currently employed as a psychoanalyst with the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. 

The 1980s

John Forcinilli '82 resides in Portland, Tennessee and is self-employed in the entertainment world. John hosts an interesting and fun podcast entitled HAVE-A-LITTLE.

Jason Courtmanche Ph.D. '87 is a professor at UConn (Storrs). His oldest child just began at UConn and his youngest is a freshman at E.O. Smith High School. 

George Logan '87 is Director of Community Relations at Aquarion Water Company. Aquarion received the 2021 Diversity & Inclusion Utility Award from the Connecticut Section of American Water Works Association. The award reinforces the AWWA’s commitment to providing an environment where all employees are able to bring their authentic selves to work. George will be inducted into the Notre Dame Knights of Honor this fall.

Drew Hoban '88  was promoted to Director of Manufacturing Operations at Beyond Meat, Malvern, PA.  

The 1990s

John Scheithe '91 is President of Trial Fabricators, LLC, Evansville, Indiana.

Michael Grande '98  Grande’s company TBNG recently received three prestigious industry awards. This summer, TBNG was honored with awards from CRN, a media channel for solution providers and technology integrators; from The Channel Company CRN Media Group, LLC provider of IT channel-focused events, media, and research; and from business media giant, Inc. Magazine.

The 2000s

Timothy Murray '02 started a new position in August as Senior Management (Development) at the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Steve Zito '04 is a professor of Mathematics at UConn-Waterbury; he and his wife Katherine recently welcomed a baby girl, Sophia.

David Soler '06 recently moved from Maryland to Wilmington, NC where he is the chief operation officer at FLY Wilmington. Dave recently transitioned out of the U.S. Marine Corps after several years of active duty. 

Jack Yung '07 (Jack Kim)  published a book of translated poetry by the Korean poet Yi Sang. His book is on the short list for The Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Prize.

The 2010s

Nicholas Jallat '10 is the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Vassar College.

Bryan McNamara '11 recently relocated to Providence, Rhode Island, and started a new job as Corporate Partnerships Manager at Good Sports. McNamara recently started a full-time MBA program at Boston University. 

Ahmad Ward '12 is teaching in the New Haven Public Schools system. Ward is teaching first grade at Augusta Troup School. 

Zachary Averna '13 is teaching in the Hamden Public School system. Averna is a math teacher at Hamden High School. 

Tahj Eaddy '14 signed with the Orlando Magic. See the article in Sports Corner in Alumni News. 

Timothy Jambor '15 is in his second year of studies at George Mason University Antonin Scalia School of Law. In June, 2021 he started an internship at Tiber Hudson, LLC, Washington, D.C.

Anthony Richardson '15 is a BASICS instructor at the University of New Haven. BASICS is a program that falls within the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program at UNH. BASICS is a program focused on undergraduates who have been served with alcohol violations. 

Ben Bagnoli '16 graduated in 2020 from UConn with a degree in Economics. He is currently employed by the Stone Insurance Agency in Guilford. 

Adrian Cruz '16 graduated from UConn with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He is currently employed as a Business Technology Analyst with Information Services Group in Stamford. 

Robert DeFeo '16 took a leap towards entrepreneurship in 2018 and founded a digital marketing agency with a partner. Mad Mango Marketing is a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Company, but also offers software development solutions, mobile app design, website development, and targeted social media ads. 

Nicholas Nero '16 celebrated his first year of employment as a Proposal Analyst at Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company. Nick graduated from UConn School of Business in 2020.

Andrew Tammaro '16 accepted a position as Press Secretary with the Connecticut House Republicans.  Andrew graduated from Stonehill College in 2020. 

Cody Markey '17 was recently promoted to Director of Operations, Chief of Staff, at Camp Cedarcrest, Orange, CT.  The camp was founded in 1924 by the Inter-Service Clubs Committee of New Haven, Inc.  Camp Cedarcrest is committed to providing an enlightening and enjoyable outdoor experience to the underprivileged youth of the Greater New Haven area focused on stewardship, community service, team building, and personal growth.

Mark Bissell '18 was featured in a Marist College article about summer internships. Mark is a Fashion Design major and Studio Art minor. His internship was with Abercrombie & Fitch where he worked with the Hollister Guy's Graphic Tees team.

Michael Brooks '18 was appointed as an Ambassador at the Society for Financial Education and Professional Development. SFE&PD is a nonprofit organization on a mission to enhance the financial and economic literacy of individuals and households in the United States, and promote professional development at the early stages of career development through mid-level management.

Robert Ludwig III '18 accepted a position as an Emergency Department Technician working in the Yale New Haven Health network. Robert is studying in UConn’s program for Allied Health Sciences.

Josh Norton '18 has an undergraduate research assistant position in the Cardiovascular Flow Modeling Laboratory at Purdue University. He is aiding in the study of cardiovascular flow via Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Aksahy Reddy '18 is a Biomolecular Science Student at University of Michigan where he was recently promoted to Organic Chemistry Study Group Facilitator. 

The 2020s

Connor Kauffman '20 is a First Prize winner in the BMI Foundation’s 24th Annual John Lennon Scholarships, a program that recognizes the nation’s best and brightest young songwriters between the ages of 17 and 24. Kauffman won for his song "White Lies." Within only a week of posting to TikTok, he was signed and secured a label. He currently resides in Los Angeles and is prepping for the next single out in November.

Miguel Corzo '21 completed his studies at Boston College (BSN) and is now employed at Yale-New Haven Health as a Registered Nurse.

Lou Buccino '70 in retirement moved from his longtime home on Florida’s Atlantic Coast to the Gulf side and is thankful to be in Tampa Bay.  Lou landed in Florida after multiple career relocations.  He is the proud father of two adult children and two grandchildren. Many fond memories; humbly my favorite has to be hearing my name announced over the morning announcements on a Monday in Spring Semester 1969 (my Junior year), for having won the Connecticut High School Chess Championship that past weekend.

Joe Maltese '70 UConn BA, SCSU, MSW.  I am a retired social worker, married, still living in West Haven, with my wife and cat. I love reading, gardening, going to the beach, getting together with friends and sharing a good meal. I am a fan of college basketball, especially love March Madness when a local team makes it to the dance. While at ND, I enjoyed meeting my friends at the mixers. Enjoyed the live rock and roll bands. I liked going to the basketball and football games. I enjoyed my classes at ND, and was well prepared for college and grad school.

Tim Carey '72 recently retired from Synchrony Financial Bank (formerly GE Capital) after 24 years, where he led IT Credit Services for Acquisitions, developing new Risk and Authorizations capabilities, and Credit services for mobile and instant processing. He and his wife Julie (once she retires in June) plan to spend lots of time traveling, and enjoying a post-COVID world.

Nick Sambides, Jr '85 is a reporter for the Journal Record in Wallingford.  He returned to Connecticut after working at the Bangor, Maine Daily News for 16 years.  Sambiders recently wrote a story about John Ventura ‘98 being appointed Police Chief in Wallingford. 

Darren Lawler '87 was elected Registrar of Voters for the Town of Branford in the 2020 election.
 
Adam Castracane '88 was recently promoted to the position of Direct Education Sales Associate at Microsoft.

Drew Hoben '88 recently took a new position as Plant Manager for Aspire Bakeries, Swedesboro, NJ.  Aspire Bakeries is the new name of Los Angeles-Based ARYZTA North America. 
 
Chris Liberti '89  After nearly 22 years with Eagle Environmental, Inc., Chris was promoted to Vice President of Operations. Chris started as an entry level technician performing hazardous building materials inspections and asbestos abatement monitoring and was promoted through the years as the company tripled in size. His duties now include training new technicians, overseeing inspections, managing abatement projects and developing abatement technical specifications for multi-million dollar renovation projects.

The 1990s

Dave DeCaprio '90 Dave’s company ClosedLoop.ai won the $1million CMA AI Health Challenge. On receiving the news, Dave said: “I'm very proud to have led a team of incredible people who believed that our small startup not only belonged in this competition, but that we had the focus and skill to win it. I want to say a special thanks to my family and all the ClosedLoop families who supported the team through all the hard work. Albert Lee '94 was appointed the first Director of Equity, Belonging, and Student Life at Yale School of Music.  Lee returns to New Haven from the University of Nevada where he held the position of Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera.  Lee attended UConn after Notre Dame.  He earned his Masters of Music Degree from The Julliard School and his PhD from Florida State University.  Lee performed with the Notre Dame Chorus under the direction of Arthur Bellucci '72 during his four years at ND.  

Ben Ammarone '97, Director of Admissions at Albertus Magnus College, received the Admission Professional of the Year Award from the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC). 
John Ventura ‘98 has been appointed Police Chief in Wallingford.

Matthew J. Sponheimer, Esq. '09 has joined Cramer & Anderson as a Trust & Estate Associate. Working from the firm’s Ridgefield office, his focus is estate planning, wills and trusts, Medicaid planning and elder law issues. Sponheimer is also experienced in the designation of health care agents, powers of attorney, HIPPA  information release authorizations, and Probate Court filings, as well as issues related to taxation.
 
Harry Scoble, Jr. '09  has worked for indeed.com since 2016. In April he was promoted to Senior Specialist for Global Product Solutions. He works out of Stamford.

Michael Rubbo '12 has been promoted to Assistant Director for Campus Visits in the Admissions Department of St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, TX. 

D’Hati Burgess '14 was awarded a Grammy in March at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony.  D'Hati's award was for his management of the award winning recording of  Movin' On.  Movin' On by Jonathan McReynolds was recognized in the Best Gospel Performance/Song category.  D'hati Burgess is the project manager at Agency 22 Entertainment. 

Craig Carlson '15 recently took a posting with the City of New Haven as a Community Health Worker for outreach and education. 

Matthew Jaques '15 started a new position as an Accounting Associate at Raytheon Technologies in Danbury, CT. 

Colton Kopcik '15 is a summer associate at Day Pitney, LLC, Stamford. Colton will begin his third year at Michigan State University Law School in the fall. 

Dan Madsen '15 is a 2019 graduate of Stonehill College.  He is currently employed as a regional account manager at Granite Telecommunications in Quincy, MA.

Anthony Richardson '15 is a counseling intern at Anna Haven Behavioral Health Services in West Haven.  Richardson is an MA candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of New Haven. 

Steven Chen '16 graduated from UConn and is employed as a Finance Assistant at Operation Fuel. Operation Fuel provides emergency energy and utility assistance to households in Connecticut that are facing a financial crisis.

Dylan Reynolds '16 is a graduate of the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield U.  He majored in Liberal Studies and Marketing and captained the varsity baseball team during the ‘19-’20 season. He is employed as Recon Associate Sales Representative at Smith & Nephew in the Connecticut District.

Andrew Tammaro '16 is a member of the Hamden Republican Town Committee.  The Committee has nominated him and he has announced his candidacy for election to the Hamden Board of Education in the November election.  

William Aleman '17  is a 2021 graduate of UConn with a degree in Economics and Data Analysis.  He has accepted a full-time position at TEK Systems as a Technical Staffing Recruiter in Rocky Hill, CT. 

Finn Boynton '17 is a 2021 graduate of UConn with a BS degree in Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies.  He has been promoted to the position of Acquisition Analyst at Four Springs Capital Trust where he began an internship in January. 

Greg Canturano '17, a first-generation college graduate, earned his BS in Finance from Miami University Farmer School of Business.  

Nicholas Dobie '17 is a 2021 graduate of UConn School of Business. He has accepted a position at the Barnum Financial Group in Glastonbury. He is licensed in Life and Health Insurance, Securities Industry Essentials(SIE), Series 7. He is working toward his Series 66 before beginning work in June. 

Thomas Driscoll '17 is a 2021 graduate of UConn with a BA degree in Psychological Services and History. Tom will continue studies at Quinnipiac University Law School. In the meantime, he has accepted a job at Zangari and Cohn P.C. and at Proud Moments ABA  as a Behavior Technician serving clients with autism. 

Justin Keish '17 graduated from UConn and will return in the fall to start a Master’s program in Financial Risk Management. 

Gino Pagliaro '17 graduated from Georgia Tech with a major in Civil Engineering and a minor in Civil Engineering Leadership.  He has started a Structural Engineering internship with Bechtel Corporation. 

Robert Schreck '17 is a 2021 graduate of Providence College with a degree in Business Management. He is now employed as Coordinator of Partnership Services for Providence Friars Sports Properties of Learfield IMG College. Schreck, the 2017 Man of the Year, addressed the ND 2021 graduating class and welcomed them as Notre Dame Alumni.  His brother Patrick is a member of the graduating class, and his brother Rory is a member of the Class of 2018.  

Evan Mikulski '18 is a student at Rochester Institute of Technology. This summer, he has an internship with CrowdStrike providing incident response service. CrowdStrike is an American cybersecurity technology company based in Sunnyvale, California, that provides cloud workload and endpoint security, threat intelligence and cyber attack response services.   

Frank Paine '18 is a private equity intern at Star Mountain Capital, New York NY.  Frank began his internship in May.

Dominick Avallone '20 has joined the sheet metal and HVAC union and will begin an apprenticeship in June with Yankee Sheet Metal. 

Luis Stephenson '20 was commissioned Airman 1st Class (Security Forces) in a ceremony held at Lackland Air Force Base on June 11.

The 1950s 
Bob DeMayo '50 collected his 915th career win in the opener of his 62nd season as North Haven beat Guilford, 8-3, at DeMayo Field. DeMayo has been coaching baseball at North Haven since 1959.

Ron Breault '58 wrote an article about his beloved Marionette, a Dolphin 24 sailboat that he restored, for Maine, Boats, Homes, & Harbors magazine. Marionette is featured on the magazine cover with Ron’s daughter Nicole and her husband sailing on Eggermoggin Reach in Maine. Click here to read the article

Thomas Brancati '59 has been enjoying retirement after a long and interesting career as a telecommunications planning and design engineer. After serving our country for two years as a United States Marine, he spent the next 44 years traveling to over 15 countries on five continents for Bell Labs and as a private consultant. 

The 1960s
John Depodesta '62 was recently honored by ECMC Group, a Minneapolis-based not-for-profit focused on student success. ECMC Group in partnership with the Gary S. Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management recently inaugurated two John DePodesta Leadership Fellowships. The program, launched in 2020, provides graduate students in business, public policy, sociology or education the opportunity to co-design or launch a new venture in partnership with existing educational organizations that seek to improve the quality of postsecondary education.  DePodesta is a founding board member and immediate past chair of ECMC Group; he has devoted the past 25+ years working to help students succeed.

The1970s
Rollin Amore '70 retired after a 38-year career in international investment management.  However, he plans to keep busy starting a chain of eateries, Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream. If you are in the Washington DC area, Rollin will appreciate your stopping by Mimi’s in Arlington, VA. 

Anthony Simonetti '72 completed a 35-year career in nursing home administration in 2015. For the past six years, his focus is on a younger generation.  Tony is serving as a substitute teacher in the Emmett O’Brien Technical School. Simonetti serves on the Shelton Board of Aldermen and is the chairman of the Republican Town Committee. 

Ralph Volpe '72 retired a year ago following a 44-year career in public accounting. Throughout his career, he held leadership positions in several Connecticut professional accounting associations. In October 2020, he was elected to the board of directors of CONNEX Credit Union.

Andrew Sacco '74 is the organist at Saint John XXIII Parish in West Haven. Sacco serves both Saint Louis and Saint Lawrence Churches that comprise the parish. At Easter, the parish released a video of Sacco explaining the difference between the digital organ at Saint Louis and the pipe organ at Saint Lawrence. See the Saint John XXIII Parish Video here.

David Grubb '85 was recently promoted to Senior Manager of Tech Support at Splunk. Grubb works out of Plano, TX. Splunk is a cloud-based platform for cyber security, IT, and DevOps.  

Joe Tonelli '86 is  the University of Bridgeport’s all-time leader in career victories for the Purple Knights.  Tonelli, UB’s Head Baseball Coach, recorded his 156 victory over Mercy College on April 10.

The 2000s
Adam Letize '01 addressed the students in Carella Barrett-Rafala’s Honors Chemistry class via Zoom. Letize is the Senior Research Chemist with MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions.  He spoke to the students about his career and other career opportunities for chemists.

Louis D’Onofrio, Jr, MD '05 is the owner and primary care provided of Best Health Primary Care, Bridgeport. He is also the Director of Clinical Care at Westport-Weston Health District in Westport. He recently published Cohabitation COVID-19 transmission rates in a United States suburban community: A retrospective study of familial infections in the March issues of the journal Public Health.  

Jack Jung '07 (Jack Kim at ND) recently published the English translation from Korean of the Collected Poems of Yi Sang. Jung is a freelance translator.  He holds a Master’s of Fine Arts in Poetry degree from the University of Iowa.   

The 2010s

Earl McCoy '13 is the Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development at Albertus Magnus College. McCoy began his employment at the start of the spring semester. He joins the office’s Director Patrick Clifford '75.

Brian Rhone '13 started a new position as Baseball Instructor at DC Baseball Academy in Framingham, MA. 

Lonnie Blackwell '14 was sworn in as a recruit for the Shelton Police Department on April 13. Blackwell graduated from Southern Connecticut State University where he received an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in exercise science. He will spend seven months at the police academy then 12 weeks of on-field training before officially joining the force.

Colton Kopcik '15 is a second year law student at Michigan State College of Law focusing on real estate and intellectual property law.  He has been accepted as a summer associate at Day Pitney LLC in Stamford. 

James Campbell '16 graduated from Sacred Heart University in December 2020 with a degree in Accounting.   In late-January, he joined the staff of Beers, Hamerman, Cohen, & Burger P.C., New Haven, as an audit staff accountant. 

Thomas Komar '17 is  a recent graduate of Bentley University with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Info Design and Corporate Communication. Komar and two classmates were featured in a recent Bentley News article The Three Marketeers. He recently visited ND and spoke to students in the Technology, Engineering, and Design class about his 3D printing work. 

Finn Boynton '17 completed the 16-course A.CRE Real Estate Financial Modeling Accelerator program in January and started a part-time internship with Four Springs Capital Trust, a real estate investment trust that owns and manages commercial properties. 

Liam Connell '17 will graduate from the University of Miami’s Farmer School of Business in May with a double major in Finance and Geospatial Analytics. In March, he started as an incoming Investment Analyst at AON, Norwalk, CT. 

Cory Luba '18 started a new position as an IT Specialist in the Sterling Community School, Sterling, CT.

Derrick Pommills '18 (left) is a junior at the University of Rhode Island majoring in Business Administration and Management. He hit the ground running in the second semester of his freshman year when he and a classmate started their own ride share service. Pommills has a summer internship with Enterprise Car Rental in New Haven this summer.

Richard Vennett '60 is a proud US Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. He later worked for Conoco for 25 years with assignments in Oklahoma and Norway. Richard and Mary Ann (Witaszek) are married for 54 years and now reside in Rio Verde, AZ.

Thomas Wilder '60 Lake Ridge, VA. is a retired U.S. Army  Lt Col with overseas duty in Vietnam, Taiwan, and Italy. He earned an MBA at Texas Tech. He recalls as highlight of his duty in Italy meeting and conversing with Pope Saint John Paull II. 

Donald Moore '63 was inducted into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame in 2018. Donald is the author of The Master Adaptive Learner: A Conceptual Model that appears as Chapter 3 in The Master Adaptive Learner, a new publication of the American Medical Association. The Master Adaptive Learner book is the first volume in the American Medical Association's MedEd Innovation Series. The Master Adaptive Learner is an instructor-focused guide covering models for how to train and teach future clinicians who need to develop these adaptive skills and utilize them throughout their careers.

Michael Scanlon '66 Despite COVID-19, Mike agreed to help at the US embassies in Sofia, Bulgaria for ten weeks and in Minsk, Belarus for six weeks. “They were happy to have me but I am happy to have made it home safely”

Daniel Scoppetta MD '69  After retiring from his general surgical practice here in Connecticut, Dan initiated a surgical project in Jeremie, Haiti in 2016. The Grand Anse Surgery Project provides quality surgical care for the residents of Jeremie. (In the 1969 yearbook, you will recognize Dan by the last name Gioiella.) The1970s
Clifford Dudley, EdD '70 has been engaged in education for forty years as a teacher and administrator. With degrees from Fordham and Northcentral University (CA), he taught history and government class at Sacred Heart University and the University of New Haven. Dudley is a member of the McMillian Center at Yale through which he has worked with the British Army and the Irish Red Cross. He notes that he kept busy during Covid by preparing classes, taking a virtual class through Yale School of Management, was cast in an online historical play, over-exercised the family goldendoodle, and binge watched Monty Python’s Flying Circus. 

Dennis Tobin '70 recently welcomed his second grandchild and now finds joy in retirement babysitting and playing golf. Retirement came after 32 years at Eder Brothers, Inc. (wholesale wine and beer distributor) West Haven. Tobin also devoted ten years to teaching and coaching at Sheehan High School (Girls Softball and Field Hockey). 

Harold Card '72 and his wife Ellen completed the Camino de Santiago a year ago, walking 800km from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Hal took up blacksmithing as a hobby in 2010 and now has a blacksmith shop in a neighboring town. As a retired but active cardiologist (practices one day per week), Hal was happy to get his first COVID vaccine in late-December.

Sal Anastasio '74 used his musical talent to create a CD of holiday songs and donated the proceeds of sales to local charities.  His effort was a featured spot on WTNH in December.  

The 1980s
John Gibbons '81 is celebrating 35 years as an educator.  This year marks his twentieth year as principal of the Weston Middle School, Weston, Massachusetts.

Chris Cinque '86 Retired from the West Haven Police Department in November after a 20 year career. He is now employed as a Police Officer at Southern Connecticut State University.

Brian McManus '86 recently started a new position as Recovery Coach Manager – Department of Corrections Program at Community for Addiction Recovery, Hartford, CT.

Michael Kiely '88 was recently interviewed on a podcast entitled The Political Life with a focus on his role as President, US Government Affairs at UPS. In a typical year, UPS is incredibly busy during the holidays. But with people ordering goods via e-commerce more than ever because of COVID-19, 2020 was  not a typical year. And, with the first Coronavirus vaccine shipments going out in December, UPS had a crucial part to play than ever before in making the global economy work.

The 1990s
Dave DeCaprio '90 is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of a new startup ClosedLoop. The platform is being used to help hospitals determine which patients are most likely to miss appointments, acquire infections like sepsis, benefit from periodic check ups, and more.

Christopher Prato '90 was promoted to Senior Vice President at CreditGuard Corporation. Prato has been with CreditGuard for over eight years as VP for sales building new relationships and programs and products with the relationships. He will not lead the CreditGuard team in all areas, not just sales. 

Alvarez Symonette '91 was accepted into the inaugural class of the Herndon Directors Institute. The Institute tackles the issue of under-representation of minorities serving on corporate boards. The Herndon Family Foundation (the philanthropic arm to Atlanta Life Insurance Company) is sponsoring the program with an initial cohort of 19 individuals. Atlanta Life was founded in 1905 by Alonso Herndon and is the first and oldest Black-owned insurance company in America. Classes begin in February and run for six months. Alvarez was also recently named to Notre Dame's Board of Directors. 

Jeff White '96 is among seven new leaders elected to serve on the Connecticut Business and Industry Association Board of Directors. The CBIA is Connecticut's largest business organization. The new board members were elected in November. 

The 2000s
John Franco '07 shared pictures with ND faculty and staff of his current post. He is deployed with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team based out of Fort Hood, TX. He is stationed with the Darkhorse FST 1-7 CAV which is the Forward Support Troop of “GarryOwen”.

David Mayer '03 is a geographer with the United States Geological Survey. He currently works at the Astrogeology Science Center, Flagstaff, AZ with a team of scientists and engineers. The USGS developed the landing site maps that Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover will use to navigate the ground when it touches down on Mars on February 18. David recently addressed Liz Colluccio’s Astronomy class and Kelsey Sewell’s Technology Engineering and Design Course.  

The 2010s
Thomas Simjian '11 did not let the challenge of virtual learning get in his way when he agreed to supervise six interns from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.  Simjian works at Jounce Therapeutics in Cambridge. From the Jounce Website: At Jounce, we are driven by the desire to create long-lasting therapeutic options to transform the way cancer is treated. This is brought to life by our Cancer Hero Wall -- a daily reminder of why we come to work each day and the potential impact we can have on patients’ lives. 

Tulio Ossa '12 began employment as a Data Management Business Analyst at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  Ossa recently completed his MS in Business Analytics at Quinnipiac University. 

Alec Albright '15 taught Aviation Weather at Saint Louis University during the fall semester.  From Alec’s LinkedIn post:  “Teaching this class was a unique challenge, as I had the opportunity to write the syllabus and curriculum from the ground-up and present ideas about meteorology and flying in a way that I believe is most helpful to future aviators at SLU. Teaching during a pandemic also posed a significant challenge as only half of the class could be present for any given lecture, and it was impossible to give exams in a normal in-person setting. I also took four law school classes this semester while working.”

Conor Hylton '16 graduated in May 2020 from UConn with degrees in Molecular Cell Biology and Chemistry. In August, he began medical studies in Oral Surgery also at UConn. “I am interested in the future use of genetics and stem cell therapy in the management of dental disease. The friendships I cultivated and education I received at ND have been an integral part of my success and will serve me for a lifetime!”

Mark Bissell '18 is the recipient of a 2021 Fashion Scholarship Fund award.  Candidates submit a portfolio pertaining to their area of study for this competitive award.  Mark’s portfolio featured the use of fashion and technology to drive sociopolitical change. Mark is a third year student at Marist College. 

Despite COVID Tyler Salatto '10 was able to pull together some friends an family for the annual Thomas L. Salatto Memorial Golf Classic back in August. This year's tournament raised an additional $1,000 for the scholarship fund at Notre Dame. The 1950s

James Nugent ’56 is proud of his extended family and its ND connections. Son Jim ’82 is the father of James ’14 and Patrick ’16; son Scott is the father of Charles ’16 and Ben ’19; Michele Nugent Severino is the mother of Christopher who attended ND for three years. We hope to see a great-grandson sometime in the future.   

Ron Breault ‘58 recently published Voyaging with Marionette (Whaler Books 2020), an insightful and personal story of his 25-year journey with Marionette, a Dolphin 24 sailboat that he restored, sailed, and raced with pride. See more at Ron’s website www.dolphin24.org.

The 1960s

Albert Ruggiero ’66 recently collated and published a collection of short reflective writings of his late wife Carol. Entitled Pearls from Carol, the book is available from Balboa Press

1967 classmates Tom Cretella, Bob Greco, and Dennis Bowler recently took to the hills. According to Dennis’ Facebook post: ‘Some people say life is about the numbers, here are some fairly relevant ones: Date 10/1/2020, 3 members of the NDWH class of 1967, Tom Cretella, Bob Greco and yours truly, all three 70 years of age reached the 4,320 foot summit of  Mt. Osceola in the White Mountains, 3.5 hours up, 3 hours down. All three live to tell the tale!’

James Griffin ’67 signed a contract with Dusty Saddle Publishing to write five new novels over the next two years. The books will introduce a new character, Texas Ranger Luke Caldwell. The first one in the series, Ride for Justice-Ride for Revenge, will be released later this year.  

Paul Jakubson ’67 retired as the Chief of Police for the Town of Madison in 2009 after a 35 year career.  Paul and his wife Judith continue to live in Clinton, CT where he owns and operates a small company called MI BRI Downrange, LLC, specializing in firearms valuation and sales.

Joseph Slezak ’69 is currently a semi-retired business organizational training and development consultant and owner of The STEM Group (Strategic Training and Enterprise Management). In addition, he is a volunteer Solar System Ambassador appointed by NASA-JPL to conduct free public workshops that explain the function and purpose of NASA space exploration projects and activities. He does this through his own public education company, also called The STEM Group (Space Technology Exploration Mission) where he works with community groups, students, libraries, and other organizations to provide training and educational resources for teachers and student STEM education groups. He explains how current space technology is contributing to the improvement of society and promotes student interest in the pursuit of the study of the STEM disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to secure a future career.

The 1970s

Antonio Gianelli, PA-C, ‘70  is an associate professor at Western Michigan University and a clinical instructor at Michigan State University College of Medicine, Department of Medical Specialties. He is also a Distinguished Fellow in the American Academy of Physician Assistants and President of the Society of Physician Assistants in Rheumatology. 

Michael Puglia ‘71 and his wife Deborah and family celebrated the baptism of  Mason Jeremy Gaudio, son of Andrew Gaudio and Elyse Puglia Gaudio (SHA '05) at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Also pictured are Godfather Mike Puglia '01 and Godmother Allison Generoso (SHA '05). Mason's great-uncle is Pat Puglia ‘78. 

Hal Card ‘72 has been hiking the 46 high peaks of the Adirondacks with his daughter, Anna. This photo was taken at the top of Seward Mountain, summit #40! Hal is proudly wearing an ND tee shirt for this photo-op. 

William Clifford ’72 recently retired after a 43-year career in education; he left Brooklyn, NY, upon retirement and moved to Florida.  

Joseph Fusco ’72 is a proud grandparent of nine grandchildren! He has published another collection of humorous poems and essays that is available on Amazon Books entitled Hmm…That’s Different.  

George Platt ‘72 reported that Harty Press, where he worked since 1970, closed shop in May impacted by Covid-19 fallout. Harty Press was in operation for 120 years; George held the position of president of the corporation when it closed. He has relocated to GHP Media in West Haven. 

Philip Brencher ’73, (second from right) a faculty member at New Haven’s Sound School, assisted Don Martone ’87 (far right) and his Marine Biology Class on a field trip to Long Island Sound. Utilizing a device called the Virtue, the students are investigating biodiversity in the intertidal zone and the succession of life from biofouling, to phytoplankton, to zooplankton, to bryozoans, to invertebrates, and all other life forms that appear in chronological order.  

The 1980s

Dominic Amore ‘80 joined the Hartford Courant in 1988. He writes a weekly column and covers UConn men’s athletic teams. The National Sports Media Association has named him Connecticut Sportswriter of the Year 5 times. A lifelong Connecticut resident, he is an adjunct professor at SCSU and since 2019 at Iona College. His book, A Franchise on the Rise: The first 20 years of the New York Yankees hit shelves in 2018. 

John Forcinelli ’82 recently interviewed Dom Amore ’80 on his podcast Have-A-Little. John resides in Portland, Tennessee, where he works as a security guard and is active in the music scene.   

John Griffin ’82 is semi-retired after a 31 year career as a Forensic Scientist and Regional Laboratory Director with the Virginia Department of Forensic. He is now in Arizona teaching Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics in a vocational healthcare institute. 

Tom Norton ‘82 and his son Liam (Amity ‘16) received degrees from SCSU on the same day. Tom was awarded his Sixth Year Diploma in Educational Leadership; Liam received his BS cum laude in History with a minor in Secondary Education. 

Jay Caporale ‘83 started a new position in higher education in September. He is Special Assistant to the Provost at Johnson and Wales University, Providence, RI. 

Wayne Travers ’83 joined Ernst & Young, LLP in February 2020 as an associate director, overseeing public relations for EY’s Assurance and Strategy and Transactions businesses. 

Rick Burdick ’87 credits his ND academic and athletic experiences for the success he has found in his 30-year career in the investment industry. He is currently the Regional Vice President for Catalyst Funds, Tampa, FL.   

Robert Moran ’88 recently received his State of Connecticut Real Estate License. 

The 1990s 

Joe Tantalo ’93 and AraBella Fischer proudly announce the birth of their first-born child, Teodoro Burr Fischer-Tantalo (b. May 26, 2020). In addition to adjusting to parenthood, Joe is developing the musical adaptation of Forrest Gump (based on the novel by Winston Groom), with music and lyrics from the composers of the 2007 Academy Award winning movie and Broadway musical, Once

The 2000s

Jung Yeul (John) Cha ’01 is teaching English at Chungdam Learning in Seoul, South Korea. John is a graduate of Florida State University.  

David Mayer ’03 was promoted to Geographer at the U.S. Geological Survey's Astrogeology Science Center in March 2020. He is a member of a seven-person team at USGS that created the digital maps that will guide NASA's next Mars Rover, Perseverance, to a safe landing spot on Mars.

Craig McDonough ’06 and his wife Emily proudly announce the birth of their daughter on April 18, 2020. 

Joseph Canelli ’06 and his wife Ariana welcomed the birth of Noah Alessandro Canelli of May 28, 2020.

John Franco ’07 was posted to Fort Hood, TX in 2019 from his previous duty station at Camp Carroll, South Korea.

The 2010s

Christopher Daniel ’10 is a 2017 graduate of Roger Williams University School of Law. He is in private practice with Martin Clearwater & Bell, LLP, defending medical professionals and hospitals facing medical malpractice claims throughout the State of New York. He is married to Kayla DeLucia of Cheshire and currently resides in New Canaan, CT.

Matthew Doyle ’13 is a fashion model working out of Miami. His clients include Saks 5th, Neiman Marcus, and Perry Ellis. 

Anthony Richardson ‘15 is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of New Haven where he also serves in a graduate school outreach program titled UND Go-Getter. 

David Wajtowicz ’15 is starting his second year in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Hartford.  

Matthew Jacques ’15 recently began work as an Account Associate at Whittlesey, Hamden, CT.  

Kyle Taylor-Gaskin ’16 is serving with the United States Army. He is currently in basic training as a cavalry scout. 

Kyle Torres ’16 is employed as an advisor at Wells Fargo in Manhattan. 

Kevin Clancy ’16 is a first-year law student at Marquette Law School.

Lucas Audie ’17 is the youngest Warehouse Supervisor in the Northeast Region for Coca-Cola North America. His work involves planning drink donations to food banks across the United States. He is pleased to have an ND alum Diego Garcia '91 as his co-worker.

Ernie Santiago III ’18 started his clinical nursing assignment at St. Vincent Hospital. Ernie is in the nursing degree program at Quinnipiac University.

 

 

 

Colton Varholak ’19 recently participated in the Closer to Free Ride in honor of his mother who has been battling breast cancer for over 7 years. Colton raised $3,200 for Smilow Cancer Hospital with his 107-mile ride. 

Warren Bailey Murphy ‘19 took the title in a recent professional point fighting promotion sponsored by Pro Point, according to a recent article in Black Belt magazine. Bailey and his opponent Ryan George won accolades for ‘Fight of the Night,’ and Bailey took the ‘Technique of the Night’ Award. The article concluded,  ‘Murphy used Pro Point's first event as an opportunity to continue making his case as one of the top fighters on the planet.’
