Meet Will Bader '25 - SGA President

October 13th, 2025

Will Bader, Class of 2025 and Student Government Association President, shared some reflections about his goals for the coming year and his time at Notre Dame.

What was the biggest surprise for you about attending Notre Dame?

Having two older brothers who attended Notre Dame, I didn’t think there was much that I didn’t know about the school or what to expect. However, there were some surprises for me, all focused on the relationships I established here. I developed very close relationships with my teachers here. I had great teachers in middle school, but the relationships I formed here at Notre Dame were different, and something I had never experienced before. I was also surprised that I had the chance to develop really deep friendships with students several years ahead of me. Even though they are no longer at Notre Dame, I am still connected to them and visit them regularly.

What is your favorite thing about being a Notre Dame student?

Following up from my last answer, it has to be the opportunities and connections we can create with not only our classmates, but our teachers and the staff here.

What are your goals for this year as Student Government President?

I want to create and execute events that both boys and girls will enjoy. This is such a momentous year in Notre Dame’s history, and I want to make sure we instill memories in all of our students, whether they are freshmen or seniors. I also want us to have alot of fun this year - great pep rallies, a great Homecoming dance, a fun freshman/sophomore dinner dance, and of course, a memorable senior/junior prom.

How has Notre Dame prepared you for the future?

Not only has Notre Dame prepared me academically and socially for the future, but it has also given me the chance to pursue opportunities to enhance my learning through activities outside the classroom like NDXL.

Last year, I used my NDXL week to do an internship at Dow Jones which I got through Notre Dame alumnus Mr. Jared DiPalma '98, CFO of Dow Jones. It was a great experience - I commuted into New York City on MetroNorth every morning, and worked in the iconic News Corp building. I developed an appreciation for different areas of finance, and worked with Mr. DiPalma’s warm and welcoming team. It was a fantastic experience all around, and confirmed my interest in studying finance in college.

What advice would you have for new incoming students?

Be open to being uncomfortable. Try new things - while asking questions, or sometimes not asking questions! Work hard. Have fun. Take risks. And don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
