Abdou Toure - Arkansas Bound!
October 13th, 2025

On Friday, October 3, in the gym where he has made Notre Dame history, Abdou Toure announced that he will be attending the University of Arkansas next year. This announcement caps an intense recruitment process for Toure, who received more than thirty offers to play at the top levels of NCAA Division I basketball. Toure, Notre Dame’s all-time leading scorer with 1477 points (and counting!) is the top-ranked college basketball recruit in Connecticut and 31st nationally according to Rivals Industry Rating. Last season he averaged 25.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He has twice been named Gametime and Maxpreps Connecticut Player of the Year, and is a two-time First Team All State Selection.
Beyond his accomplishments on the court, Toure has been an outstanding representative of the values Notre Dame espouses. It is not at all surprising that Toure made his announcement with his family next to him, and his teammates gathered around him. In an interview last year prior to the state championship game, Coach Jason Shea ‘97 said about Toure, “He can do everything on the court. His work ethic is second to none. His attitude is off the charts.” Toure was pursued not just by colleges and universities, but by prep schools who offered him an opportunity to transfer to complete his high school career. When asked why he chose to remain at Notre Dame, Toure said “I love it here - it feels like family, so I wouldn’t want to leave my family.”
